Artificial intelligence is everywhere right now.
But according to Forbes Business Development Council Advisor Angelica Kopec, that’s exactly why most businesses are getting it wrong.
Forbes Councils has invited Kopec to lead an upcoming webinar, Reimagining Revenue: The Future of Marketing & Sales with AI, to unpack what AI is actually changing and what leaders need to rethink if they want to grow revenue, not just adopt new tools.
“AI isn’t the strategy,” Kopec explains.
“It just reveals whether you have one.”
Most conversations about AI in marketing and sales focus on platforms, prompts, or productivity gains. But Kopec believes the real shift is happening at a much deeper level.
“AI is fundamentally changing how customers find you, how they decide, and how quickly they expect relevance,” she says. “That means revenue models, funnels, and sales behaviours have to change too.”
In her work with founders, scale-ups, and enterprise teams, Kopec sees a clear pattern:
organisations are layering AI onto systems that were built for a very different era.
The result? Faster activity but not better performance.
For years, growth was driven by volume:
more leads, more emails, more ads, more outreach.
AI flips that model.
Today’s most effective marketing and sales teams are shifting away from activity-based growth and toward intelligence-led revenue, using data to anticipate buyer behaviour rather than chase it.
When used well, AI allows businesses to:
“But none of that works,” Kopec notes, “if leadership mindset doesn’t change first.”
AI adoption is accelerating but leadership understanding isn’t keeping pace.
That gap is creating new risks:
automation without accountability, tools without strategy, and speed without direction.
Forbes Councils identified this moment as a turning point and invited Kopec to speak directly to what leaders need to do differently now to stay commercially relevant.
“The businesses that win won’t be the ones with the most AI tools,” she says.
“They’ll be the ones who know when to rely on machine intelligence and when human judgment still matters.”
One of the central themes of the Forbes Councils webinar is mindset not technology.
Before investing in platforms or automation, leaders must rethink:
AI rewards clarity and discipline.
It exposes fragmentation and outdated thinking.
According to Kopec, the future belongs to leaders who treat AI as a strategic amplifier, not a shortcut.
